Active CEO Performance Tip

People Support What They Create – How often do you come up with a great idea, share it with your team, they agree, but they quickly lose interest?People will support what they create. If they aren’t involved in the development of a project, strategy or even a hire, then there is very little emotional connection to it and less likely to find the motivation to make it happen. Here are 3 ways to get employee or stakeholder buy in:1. Involve your team early, during the creation of an idea, project or strategy. 2. Position the idea so that it feels like your team came up with it. 3. Invite the team to determine the best way to solve a problem and deliver the outcome.

Own Your OWN VULNERABILITY

Own Your OWN Vulnerability – Have the courage to be uncomfortable for growth. A comfort zone is a wonderful place, but nothing ever grows there.

Successful people have the unique ability to perform under high levels of pressure. Pressure comes from internal and external expectations, and as the stakes rise, fear grows. Being able to deal with fear and the uncomfortable feelings that are associated, you have to be better prepared to control your state of mind.

Why do we feel uncomfortable? That uncomfortable feeling comes from going into a place where you have never been before. You are making a change and disrupting the way your mind and body are used to doing something. It might be doing something for the first time or doing something you haven’t done for a while. It could be doing something you are used to, but the conditions or parameters have changed.

“If you want something in life that you have never had, you will have to do something that you have never done.

To have the courage change, you also must have a sense of vulnerability. On the other side of the coin you must also have courage to be vulnerable. It is important that you have a strong sense of purpose and be prepared for being uncomfortable.

This episode will also look at being prepared to push the boundaries, surround yourself with a supportive team, understand how you manage being uncomfortable, developing and uncomfortable mindset and what rituals and behaviors can you create, so that each day you feel more comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Write down a list of people and/or types of people you need in your proximity to upgrade those skills. 3. Create A Ripple Effect With PURPOSE – Have you become too focused on yourself and you don’t feel fulfilled. Focus on something bigger than just yourself. Determine what your companies or your own real purpose is in life. Your why or your companies why? What work can you do to serve that purpose and leave a positive mark or dent on the world? 3 questions to ask yourself – 1. What makes you come alive? 2. What are your innate strengths? 3. Where do you add greatest value? NOW IF YOU ARE STILL STRUGGLING TO IDENTIFY YOUR WHY here are 3 more questions to ask yourself: 1. What do people come to ask for help on and thank you for? 2. What would do you love doing that you would do everyday without a paycheck? 3. If you found out that you only had one year left, what would you imagine yourself doing? Its time for you to do some self reflection and find clarity on your why!

Target Market Behaviours During Loss, Uncertainty And Change Craig Johns Business Coach High Performance Leadership

Target Market Behaviours During Loss, Uncertainty And Change

TARGET MARKET BEHAVIOURS

By Craig Johns

What are the stages of target market behaviours that people are currently going through as they come to terms with loss, uncertainty and change living in a remote world of COVID-19?

As a leader, CEO, entrepreneur or influencer you are trying to figure out how to firstly retain, but also recruit in the future, your valuable clients, members and suppliers. You first need to understand your target market behaviours and then you can understand the importance of your digital presence right now.

People will go through these 7 stages at varying speeds, so it’s important to be digitally present right now to capture their attention. Here is a brief outline:

Stage 1 – DENIAL

When COVID-19 first came to light, most people brushed it off, as a concern in their world, and continued on with normal daily behaviour

Stage 2 – SHOCK

When governments started to enforce restrictions, peoples jobs were uncertain, they were unsure if they would be able to put food on the table and stock markets started to take a dive, people took notice and the shock of it caused them to start seeking as much information on COVID-19 as possible. They became totally infatuated and engrossed in it.

Stage 3 – OVERWHELM

They become overwhelmed with the information and any word starting with “C” creates a stress reaction, so they start to withdraw from the intense exposure of COVID-19. Less time watching news, less time on social media and taking a break from digital technology. They start to withdraw inside themselves.

Stage 4 – REFLECTION

The sudden change, chaos, loss and uncertainty, causes them to go inside their thoughts as they reflect on what is really important to them, what are their values, what is their purpose in life, why am I doing what I am doing and is there a better way. They begin to think about how they can upskill and upgrade themselves as a person. What am I learning about myself, that I want to change? They start to think about what personal and professional development they require to be a better person, better parent, better leader and create a positive impact in their world and hopefully as a custodian on planet earth.

Stage 5 – RESET

They start to create a new way they want to live, a new way of thinking and a simpler way of life. New behaviours start to form, they want to become a better person or a better leader, and they start to dream about new health and fitness goals, but they realise they don’t have all the answers and they need help.

Stage 6 – BROWSING

Internet has now become their new best friend. They start browsing or window shopping so to speak. What are the solutions in the marketplace to solve my problem of creating a better way of living. How can I be healthier, how can I improve my personal performance and how can I achieve my goals. It won’t just be solutions they are looking for, it will be how do they get RESULTS to the problems they are seeking an answer for. They will only be able to find solutions from the people who have a digital presence and are visible in the digital community of the internet and social media.

Stage 7 – PURCHASING

Once they have browsed they will choose the option that can show how they get RESULTS and that they trust. They will make a decision based on the information they can easily get access to and is SIMPLE to understand. Some will be ready right now, so they are looking for solutions that can be done easily via the virtual world of internet, video conference and phone call, that they can do in their comfort of their own home.

My question to you is:

How are you creating your digital presence and most importantly message, to not only solve, but show how you can help current and future clients, members or suppliers get RESULTS, starting today?

Understanding your target market behaviours to thrive, not just survive in COVID-19.

OWN Your OWN Freedom Craig Johns Breaking The CEO Code

Craig Johns talks about OWN Your OWN FREEDOM, the first of the 8 ways to own your OWN Influence.

OWN Your OWN FREEDOM

Find the passion, happiness & direction in your life!

Your passion can be anything in the world that challenges you, intrigues you and motivates you in life. It’s not about doing something you love so that it doesn’t feel like work, a passion is something that puts you to work.

Happiness is a feeling that occurs when you know your life is great and you just can’t help smiling. People feel happiness for different reasons, have you found your happiness or are you still in the pursuit of happiness?

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything. What is your reason for living, your purpose in life, and as Simon Sinek says “What is your why”? If it all starts with why, then what is the direction you are taking in life?

OWN Your OWN FREEDOM

Three questions to ask yourself in OWN Your OWN FREEDOM

  1. What makes you come alive?
  2. What are your innate strengths?
  3. Where do you add the greatest value?

If you are still struggling to identify your direction, there a 3 deeper questions that will bring you clarity, which are in this podcast episode.

CEO Presence

Craig Johns talks about CEO Presence, the second P of the 3P’s of the Leadership Performance Formula. CEO Presence allows you to develop and utilize skills that allow you to stay focused, hold peoples attention, raise the energy and deliver your message with clarity and purpose.

How we turn up and show up to the office, meetings, presentations and events can either have a positive or negative effect on productivity, confirming a contract or even the way current or potential consumers view your business.

How much time do you spend preparing for an interaction with a person or group of people, in regards to the content, desired outcome, mood you want to set and the way you need to present to achieve the result you are aiming for?

What routine to do you need to complete to ensure that you go into the required state to achieve the desired collective energy and mood whether it be in a meeting, arriving at the office, speaking to the participants on stage or stepping onto an event site?

CEO Presence provides you with the skills to stay focused on what is important when there are distractions, people challenging you, skeptics raising doubt in your mind and the constant noise trying to disturb you.

Have you got CEO Presence?

Check out the newly Breaking The CEO Code whitepaper. It provides an overview of Breaking The CEO Code and showcases the 6 key phases. We also go a little deeper into the 2nd phase PERFORMANCE, where we discuss the 3 P’s of the Leadership Performance Formula.

active CEO Podcast Chris Tabish Leadership Effectiveness With Comediology Craig Johns

On this episode of the active CEO Podcast, Craig Johns speaks with Chris Tabish about leadership effectiveness with Comediology, breaking out of the secure zone, bringing joy to the boardroom, and being a voice for executive management.

We also discuss the differences in leadership style between Deloitte and Accenture; connecting the worlds of consulting and comedy; the principles of Comediology; and why humour is about authenticity and humility.

Chris Tabish – Leadership Effectiveness With Comediology

Chris is a serious consultant known to have a comedy problem, who is transforming Fortune 500 companies and bringing fun and laughter to the corporate world. He is a comedian who tries not to fall over, may have painted the Golden Gate Bridge with a toothbrush, and is adamant that he wont leave us short-changed on the show today.

Our guest has a serious side as well, completing a BS in Accounting and MBA in Business Administration from The University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. His illustrious career includes consulting and director roles at Accenture, Deloitte, JDSU, Symantec, Jupiter Networks, Bodhtree and Verity Consulting. He co-foundered Stratus Partner before founding his latest entrepreneurial visions, Venture West Consulting and Comediology.

Chris talks about:

  • Always having a muscle to explore creativity.
  • Why he didn’t initially pursue being a comedian because it was too risky.
  • Shifting from a robot leadership style to someone who values employees.
  • Realising the value of humanity and creativity in leading people.
  • The WHY behind comediology.
  • Why he wasn’t being present and connecting with people.
  • Its not the content that connects with people it is the emotion.
  • In comedy you have to have a point of view or an opinion.
  • Start with something funny, that is humbling and lights up the room.
  • Why Robin Williams was so funny, but in a humble and sincere way.
  • Why he wouldn’t advocate to try and be specifically funny.
  • Leadership effectiveness with Comediology
  • Core essence is “finding your voice” and investing in your Creative 401k.
  • Comedy connects people, and people connect with people they like.
  • Let everything go and be completely in the moment.
  • How I can understand why I am here?

Active CEO Performance Tip

Chief Energy Officer – Do you know that we are all CEO’s. The Chief Energy Officer of our lives. And think how that energy affects other people and the way you behave. You all have control over your own energy. It is important that you manage your own energy first before influencing the energy of a room, a team, your family and any other person you interact with. As an influencer you can either create an environment of positive or negative energy. If you want to achieve success in a meeting, conversation, pitch, gathering or an event, then it is important that you create the energy state you desire, for both internal and external influence. Remember where focus goes energy flows. So make sure your intention is set for your desired outcome.
