Active CEO Performance Tip

SINGLE-task Not Multi-task For Productivity – If you try and multi-task, our brains move too fast, we lose focus and take on too much. In fact, the brain can’t actually multi-task and what it actually does is task switching. If you are task switching to often or too quickly, it slows down your response time and prevents you from completing tasks quickly, if at all. Break down your work into single tasks and block your time accordingly to the highest priority tasks. First, write down all your tasks. Second, prioritise your tasks according to low, medium and high priority. Third, schedule time specifically for high priority tasks first, in your calendar. Then delegate all medium and low priorities where possible. Plan your day so that you can single task to get the best productivity and performance as a leader.

He is a comedian who tries not to fall over, may have painted the Golden Gate Bridge with a toothbrush, and is adamant that he wont leave us short-changed on the show today.

Our guest has a serious side as well, completing a BS in Accounting and MBA in Business Administration from The University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. Active CEO Performance Tip

Chief Energy Officer – Do you know that we are all CEO’s. The Chief Energy Officer of our lives. And think how that energy affects other people and the way you behave. You all have control over your own energy. It is important that you manage your own energy first before influencing the energy of a room, a team, your family and any other person you interact with. As an influencer you can either create an environment of positive or negative energy. If you want to achieve success in a meeting, conversation, pitch, gathering or an event, then it is important that you create the energy state you desire, for both internal and external influence. Remember where focus goes energy flows. So make sure your intention is set for your desired outcome.

Active CEO Performance Tip

CEO Flow – It’s the psychological state that we need to get ourselves into where we have an out of body experience, because everything happens so effortlessly. If you’ve planned, prepared and you put yourself in a state where you feel like you are living what you are about to say, then you are more likely to get into that flow state. When you are in flow, everyone engages and connects with you.

Tweets

“The more people working for equity and not salary the better your company is going to do.” The importance of co-founders, with Abraham Kamarck, on the active CEO Podcast.

“A lot of my aviation training works well as an entrepreneur. In both cases you are basically trying not to die the whole time. You basically use the same strategies. How to process a lot of information very quickly and get to the most important things first? When you are falling out of the sky you don’t have time to spend time figuring out what is happening with the aircraft. You have to identify the problems immediately and fix or save yourself. ” Focusing on what will kill you first, with Abraham Kamarck, on the active CEO Podcast.

Titles Don’t Reflect Intelligence – Many people consider that having a title means they know more, have better answers and make better decisions. As a leader you need to be bring people to the table that know more than you do and be the conductor of intelligence in the room. Your roles as a leader is to guide, nurture and make sense of the collective intelligence, so that as a united team you can deliver something more special than any one individual. It is collective skill stacking, which allows the team or company to own its own space. This is how you develop true competitive advantage.

Performance By Design – Your performance should not occur by accident. The environment you and your team work in should be carefully engineered and positioned so that performance is enabled and not forced. Think carefully about how you design a project, program or event and ensure that you are not forcing performance. Establish key actions or opportunities that allow the team members to discover performance and shine by themselves or together as a collective. This is important for long-term growth and development of not only the individual but most importantly the team.
