He has a vast background working in mental health and psychiatric clinics and is the founder of Mindfulmooves, a new approach to meditation that blends the scientific, evidence-based practice of mindfulness with a series of moves to help attain connection with the body and mind.

What sets Melo apart is his life experience of cycling and trekking more than 30,000 kilometers across five continents, which has given him the ability to manage highly stressful situations, build mental endurance, and rise above adversity.

Leadership Overwhelm – As a leader, have you ever felt completely overcome in mind or emotion, where you feel a stress or combination of stressors are too big for you to manage? This is the feeling of overwhelm. Everyone experiences some level of overwhelm and the important thing to remember, is that it is all manageable. Rather than fighting your feelings of overwhelm you can accept that anxiety is like riding a wave and it will be easier; learn to turn overwhelming thoughts into helpful thoughts; shift your thoughts from having to complete everything right now to focusing on one thing at a time; identify what you need to be present with right now; take a deep breath to relax the body; and most importantly engage in an action that you enjoy before rushing into solve the trigger of overwhelm. Jennie Wyllie

Jennie Wyllie is a wonderful leader who has navigated some major transformations in a short period of time. In her current role of Chief Executive of Netball New Zealand, she has led the implementation of the ‘Whole of Netball Plan’ strategy, has managed the move back to a domestic elite competition and is using all her experience to implement the recommendations following a recent independent review into the National team.

She went to Pakuranga College in New Zealand, before completing a Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Accounting and Tax, from the University of Auckland. Today’s guest has also completed an Institute of Directors Companies Director Course, is a certified New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountant and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies at the University of Waikato.

Her career began in accounting and finance with roles, in New Zealand and the UK, at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Discovery Networks, GlaxoSmithKline, Orange and Telecom New Zealand. While at Telecom New Zealand she spent time as a Next Generation Marketing Offers Lead before returning to finance as Head of Finance, Strategy and Services at Netball New Zealand.
